Jimena Azula is a Peruvian production designer from New York City with over eighteen years of film and television experience. 

 

With degrees in Interior Design from IED Barcelona and Fine Art from SVA New York, Jimena has a breadth of experience balancing both the practical and the artistic. 

 

Since 2004 Jimena has found herself at home in the dynamic hustle of New York City, working on everything from major feature films, to independent movies, music videos, events and commercials. She recently moved to Barcelona where she is currently starting to work in local projects with Spanish and foreign productions.

 

As production designer, some of her credits include: ‘See You Yesterday’ (produced by Spike Lee, nominated at Tribeca Film Festival), ‘Here & Now’ (produced by and starring Sarah Jessica Parker),‘ Saturday Church’ (Kaleidoscope Best Film award), ‘and Viejos Amigos’ (Titra Prize: Best Movie, Lima Film Festival). She has also frequently collaborated in the films of the artist Daniel Arsham that led to them later exhibiting one of the set pieces of an airplane cockpit for Art Basel 2015.

 

When not making movies, Jimena has also worked on music videos for artists such as Charlotte Gainsbourg and Vancouver Sleep Clinic, and created commercials for the likes of Nike, Adidas, and Beats. 

 

Jimena’s enduring passion for the visual arts encompasses a career spanning almost two decades of world-building and aesthetic design, and it is on the screen that her work feels most at home.
